artist profile

From 1999 l spent 4 years in Japan where l began to paint landscape. For the past 4 years l have been living near my family in the Northern Rivers painting seascapes and landscapes. l am currently working on a series of abstract landscapes based on the current development going on in the centre of Byron Bay, l call them my "inner City Byron Series"!
This series now finished, l continue to work on found drift wood and from 2008 l am beginning to work on larger works again, this time focusing on the abstract sky with its vast hues and total immersion of beauty, lm learning that nature appears still to a vast degree, while continually moving; we dont notice it as much in our rapid movement, it is only when we are still, in a meditative pose that we see the true movement of self evolving.
In my first guise as painter..I had a false start at oil painting as a 13/14 y/o. l become more serious in my middle to late teens with the love for oil painting, l was arrogant and egotistical throughout my twenties when l painted my hundred shocking paintings; l dropped all that as l painted into my thirties with the realization it was a lifetime of work l am undertaking. I feel l have only just begun to paint sometimes and still it seems after every painting a deeper yearning takes hold to do the next one better. Criticsism is the most valuable insight for an artist as it becomes the very tool a painter needs to express adequately their inner passion.
