A distance de la lumière (2010)

By Olivier D

Acrylic, seaweeds, plastic stoppers and sand on canvas. I draw inspiration from my private life, including growing up and transformations, sharing my vision of the human condition with the public. Borders particularly fascinate me – between things, spaces, psychological statements, materials, rules, colours, aspects… The border between freedom and self-imprisonment, childhood and adulthood, mother and child, female and male… I am always experimenting, changing things, in my life as in my artistic work. I am continually striving to open my mind and push beyond my limits. I believe that everyone is part of nature; we cannot control or use it, it is an inspiration, and I integrate both natural and synthetic materials that I come across into my paintings. My works are filled with hidden senses and deep messages of human sensibility when confronting the shocks provoked by our own development.
