Fragmento del muro de los nueve dragones. Palacio Imperial, Pekín. Año 1771 d.C. El dragón es un animal fabuloso, figura simbólica universal, que se encuentra en la mayoría de los pueblos del mundo, tanto en las culturas primitivas y orientales como en las clásicas. Posiblemente, China es el lugar donde el dragón ha alcanzado una mayor difusión y representación. Destaco de manera estética a este dragón, gobernante del agua y del tiempo, de la fachada de azulejo esmaltado del muro de los nueve dragones del Palacio Imperial.

Relieve inspirado en un tapíz japonés del siglo XIX. Museo de artes decorativas de París. Modernismo es el término con el que se designa a una corriente de renovación artística desarrollada a finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX. Se trata de crear una estética nueva, en la que predominan la inspiración en la naturaleza. Vemos en esta imagen (el tapíz original realizado con hilos de seda), una estética y composición especialmente refinada. En el fondo, el mar tiene movimiento, las olas salpican y las garzas forman un círculo.
